The building we used for the vacation appartements was one of the few reconstructed parts of the abbey after the destruction in the 17th century. The first floor was used by the suoiriors brothers and in the groundfloor were living the workers. The foundation are from the 13th century and you still find many parts of the original bulding.
Since the french revolution the abbey was used as wine farm. We still have some huge borrels. When we moved in it was empty since 10 years but the walls and the roof was still in good condition. We renovated everything with our own force and try to conserve the traditional aspects of the building combined with modern confort.
We ca offer you two (three during the summer 2001) fully equiped appartments. You want to spend your vactions in summer, winter, fall or spring? No problem. Our appartements are ready all year long. There is no season for holidays in the sun of southern France. Travel to Franquevaux is easy. We are close to the internationals airports of Montpellier and Nimes. You can take as well the Highspeedtrain from Paris. It stops in Nimes, Arles and Montpellier
From Franquevaux you can visite the main cities of the area like Montpellier, Nimes or Arles, or you spend a day on a beach of the mediterranean sea watching the flamingos of the Camargue passing by. There are lots of activities with bulls. Check the non-bloody bull games or spend a day on a bull farm with horses and Paella. We are in the middle of a wine producing area, the Costière de Nïmes. We can advice you where to find the bottle of wine full of sun to take hom with you.
Or just spend some days in the Garden, listen to the birds and watch the live of a forgotten village. In the evening play the 'petanque' with a fresh Pastis in the hand and finish the with a barbecue. You are in Franquevaux, Welcome to vacations.

On the first floor you find "DisDonc" with it's huge rooms (4,65m high, 85 m2). According to your needs, you can use 2 or 3 bedrooms for 4-7/ peoples and enjoy together the wonderfull view over the Scamandre lake.

Since summer 2001 we have prepared a third appartement for 8 peoples called "Boudiou" (155 m2). It has a livingroom, a kitchen and 4 bedrooms with individual bathrooms and WC. It has a very big open fireplace and unusual sealings made out of stones.

In the former cloister of the Abbay we are in charge of two appartements of our neighbours and friends Jacky and Christopher Spencer.
The first is very generous (85 m2) with 1 big living room with a little kitchen corner, a very nice bedroom and another room with two beds and media-corner (big tv, video, stereo). You can stay there with max. 4 persones. In the garden in the former cloister you will find furnitures to enjoy the sweet air of the Camargue.
The second one is furnished for 2 persons. It has a sleeping room, a bathrrom, a dressing and a kitchen with direct acces to a private terasse of 15 m2. The sleepingroom is airconditionned.
Both appartements are renovated in this moment and can recieve you from april (the big one) or from june (the small one). If you want to rent both appartements for 5 or 6 Persons, we can offer you 25% of the normal rate.
